With
Danger out, Riot demanded to be recognized as the number one contender,
but there were other claims to the position. After her title match
loss at the hands of Terri Gold, Jungle Grrrl rebounded and went
undefeated for the remainder of WOW's first season. Displaying catlike
agility, the ultimate survivor overwhelmed opponents with flying
head butts, dropkicks and super plexes. Her trademark move became
the flying splash as the Amazonian leapt off the top rope and swooped
down on her prey, crashing onto them for the pin. The breathtaking
move never failed to secure a victory.
Beckie,
the Farmer's Daughter also employed a variation of the flying splash.
The girl from Hog Hollow, Nebraska piled up an impressive winning
streak and it was only natural that debates sprang up over who had
the better splash. Both athletes laid claim to the superior maneuver.
Verbal confrontations and heated exchanges ensued and the conflict
reached a fever pitch when Jungle Grrrl interfered in a match involving
Beckie and her partner Bronco Billie against Caged Heat. As Beckie
prepared to deliver her splash during the Tag Team Title Tournament,
the Amazonian pushed her off the top rope and cost the farm girl
the match. The gauntlet had been thrown
the two high flyers
would square off at WOW
Unleashed to decide once and for all
who had the best splash.
The
rules of the match were clear: in order to win the one-of-a-kind
bout, the competitors had to gain the pin as a result of utilizing
the Flying Splash. Both Jungle Grrrl and Beckie displayed great
agility and tried to eliminate each other with their famous finishers.
Neither was able to put the other away until the ultimate survivor
raised the stakes. The Amazonian pulled a 20-foot ladder to ringside.
She ascended the teetering tower and nailed Beckie with an astounding
splash from the top of the ladder. After that awesome victory, Jungle
Grrrl proclaimed herself the number one contender ready to take
Terri Gold's championship.
