Cruising in from Miami, Florida, Catalina Speed pit stopped at the WOW Official Podcast to chat with Nigel Zane about all things pro wrestling! Speed immediately opened up about her family history, discussing her father’s seven day raft journey from Cuba to make a new home in the United States of America. Speed’s father was eventually picked up and taken to Guantanamo Bay where he spent a year awaiting release. This treacherous journey lays the track that has shaped Speed’s entire life. Catalina is very proud of her grit and tenacity, two traits that have become a hallmark of her wrestling style.

Speed on lessons from her father: “I always have that chip on my shoulder.. I need to make that worth it, those seven days need to be worth it. I have the opportunity to do that here in WOW, and I’m very proud of that.”

Speed had a surprising start to professional wrestling. Her father always pushed her to try combat sports, but Speed found her own path participating in rugby and amateur wrestling in college until she was scouted directly by WWE!

Speed on being scouted by WWE: “I got to learn about what this industry has to offer, you know, it’s amazing and it’s tougher than people think.. I’m very grateful for all the opportunities”

Catalina’s career at WOW included a gritty match against Genesis. A nasty spinning leg drop went viral on social media, but this isn’t Speed’s first time around the racetrack, and she knows that risk is just part of the sport. Speed was also recruited by Veronica VaRoom to join the trio Full Throttle! Just because she’s in a trio doesn’t mean she’s not laser focused on championship gold however, and Speed made it very clear she’s looking to run Penelope Pink into the ground!
