BK Rhythm and Gigi Gianni get on the Official WOW Podcast Youtube livestream to continue The Alliance takeover that Sylvia Sanchez started last week! Nigel Zane chats with The Brat Pack about their start in professional wrestling and discovers that BK and Gigi come from very different backgrounds, yet found instant chemistry in the WOW ring together. BK started karate at a young age, but found that her temperament was better suited for the rough world of professional wrestling. The pair got their start on the independent circuit before joining the WOW roster, and were instantly hooked by the feeling of competing in front of a live audience.
BK Rhythm on karate: “Karate brings a certain level of respect to everything but personally I’m disrespectful with everything… Professional wrestling fits a little bit better”
BK Rhythm on her journey in the indie circuit: “It’s always an adventure, a lot of long sleepless nights, but it’s always worth it at the end of the day to entertain fans across the states, and now we get to do it across the world.”
BK credited Lamont Williams as her first mentor, noting that he not only strengthened her wrestling technique, but also sharpened her rap skills! Gigi reminisces on her first days at Hybrid School of Wrestling learning from Chris Marvel about the business and specifically professional wrestling etiquette. Gigi shouted out Coach Sho Funaki for his strict footwork and ring awareness critiques, her cardio coach Mark Agulair, and Melina who she looked up to and eventually got to meet!
Gigi on 3x WWE Women’s Champion and 2x Diva’s Champion Melina: “Someone that I always looked up to and was inspired by was Melina! I actually got to meet her and train with her and it was pretty cool…pretty cool to get encouragement and her advice in the business and everything.”
BK on trying out for WOW: “I was born to be famous so it was no brainer that they’d pick me…the first day walking down the ramp seeing the lights…the purple mat… It kinda got me star struck which is crazy considering who I am”
Check out the full interview to hear who The Brat Pack list as their “MT. Rushmore” of professional wrestling, and why they call BK “Joan Cena” in the locker room!
Gigi on being a fashionista: “You saw my baby picture, I grew up a diva, like I had the attitude already, the style…my parents always made sure I looked good. So I always say you look good, you feel good, and you do good, so that’s basically what I stand by…I always have to look on point, I always have to be glam.”
Alliance team member, Reina Del Rey, jumped in the YouTube chat to say that Gigi’s hair is insured for $10,000 and Gigi herself confirmed this to be true. Speaking of The Alliance, BK acknowledges that there are definitely more cooks in the kitchen within The Alliance versus competing as a tag team, but they are a family unit that will stick together no matter what.
