WOW’s newest media venture, the Official WOW Podcast hosted by wrestling historian Nigel Zane, is going on its eleventh week of YouTube livestreams. WOW owner and executive producer, David McLane, joined the podcast on May 15th with overflowing energy.
McLane started the podcast teasing a WOW Season 5 live show stating, “We’re working on the brand new WOW diagram for the new season and where the new live events are going to be coming to all the fans this coming year. It’s going to be very exciting news as we make the announcement at the end of the summer.”
The conversation continued as McLane announced a surprise WOW World Championship Title Match announcement – granting WOW Superhero Genesis a long awaited match against WOW’s current World Champion, Penelope Pink.
McLane spent some time praising former WOW Superheroes like Terri Gold, Jungle Grrl, Lana Star, and “The Real Deal” Selina Majors, before pushing on to speak out about the current women’s sports landscape.
McLane on women’s sports: “I don’t believe there would even be a WOW… without a Rhonda Rousey. I think Rhonda Rousey did a tremendous amount for women’s sports. She broke the mold at MMA…. [Rhonda] outshined the men.”
McLane on WOW’s female audience: “We’re the #1 wrestling show in the country with women viewers.”
McLane on WNBA: “We want Sophie Cunningham, The Enforcer, to think about WOW…We’re waiting for you to get into WOW – Women of Wrestling!
McLane on the wrestling landscape: “They talk on all these other podcasts…they don’t give WOW it’s f’n do because they’re all jealous of it. It’s the only all women’s wrestling company in the world!”
McLane on WWE and AEW: “WWE is in another stratosphere and Tony Khan’s done a terrific job with AEW, but [WOW is] right there, baby, with the ratings, and we’re beating anyone else that’s out there.”
